About
Singer-songwriter Salie Lewi was born in the grapes’ village of Overijse, Belgium. Being the daughter of artistic parents, Salie’s introduction to the arts came about at a very young age. Growing up Salie studied music theory and piano at the local music academy and trained dance first with her mother and later with renowned teachers in Brussels, Brugge, Paris and London.
At the age of 18 she played Alice in the school musical Alice in Wonderland and after graduating with majors in Latin and Maths, she was accepted in one of London’s finest musical theatre schools, Arts Educational, where she completed a 3 year diploma course in 1998.
In the same year Salie was introduced to the competitive world of Wushu and was ranked number one in Belgium and UK, 5th in Europe for Straight sword and 17th in the world for Spear. She trains at The Alan Winner Academy with her husband and coach, Amir-Alan Winner, while competing for the Belgian National team.
Salie independently produced her debut album called Star Rhythm. The CD was launched with a concert in her birth village on 19 September 2010. The album contains 11 tracks of original material and includes ‘And So It Is’, 3rd place winner in the Crimson Circle’s Returning Song Contest. The album was extremely well received in both the UK and Belgium. As a singer-songwriter accompanying herself on the piano, Salie continues to perform as a solo artist.
The philosophy of Taoism, her love for nature and her positive outlook on life became the building blocks of her compositions. While greatly inspired by musicals, film scores and classical music, Salie’s other musical influences include Herman Van Veen, Eva Cassidy and the jazz greats. Along with her training and teaching at The Alan Winner Academy, Salie continues to write, record and perform – always inspiring the truth. All records are released under Salie’s independent label: Star Rhtyhm Productions
